I want to be a dentist or a dental hygienist. I want to go to a college where people say "Wow... there?". Is there any colleges famous for dentistry? I'm currently in high school and know sure that I want to do something in the dental industry. What activites/classes should i take to prepare for this? I've decided in taking chemistry and biology since it's the only classes I can link to it.

Am 16 moving to USA on my own for high school, need advice...

Am 16 moving to USA on my own for high school, need advice...?
Ok, so I am 16 and thinking of moving to the usa for high school. My parents will not be moving with me, they will be staying in europe. They will support me financially and stuff though.Does the states have like youth hostels or student housing or something like that? Moving to a public high school though where there is no housing provided, but big towns must offer a student apartment building or something right? Will be thankful for any advice..!

I'm not sure if there's anything like that.... You might consider living with a host family; look into abroad programs in your hometown, city, area, wherever you live.
2 :
you cannot live in the the US without having a guardian. you're a minor. BUT you should definitely look into becoming a foreign exchange student for a while. that will allow you to go to high school but you would be living with a family for a while.
3 :
In which state and city or town are you interested. Each region is lil different. And each state has different rules about public high schools. On some you may study only a year. Private schools are not time restricted.
4 :
You can't do that. It's illegal. If you want to come to the U.S. to go to school, you need to either a: do it through an exchange organization; or b: have friends or relatives who will support you and get an F-1 visa -- and then many schools still won't accept you. The other alternative, very expensive, is boarding school. Without a visa, you are in the country illegally. We don't have youth hostels or public housing for students. It doesn't work that way. At 16, you cannot sign a contract, therefore you cannot rent or purchase a place to live. In many states you cannot drive. You cannot get a job. You cannot sign up for school without a parent or guardian. So, my advice, do it the proper way, or wait a couple of years and come here to college -- where student housing IS available, you can come without your parents, and can do things legally!

In the US, highschool is a four year term of education. All citizens are entitled to these four years of education "free". That is, the schools are supported by the local and state taxes, and the cost is borne by all property tax payers, not just the parents of the children attending public schools. If a student maintains at least a 2.0 GPA during all these classes, he will receive a highschool diploma, a paper which verifies his "degree". Grade Points are calculated for each test during the course, by dividing the number of points earned by right answers, by the total number of points possible in the test, and expressed as a percentage. Thus, if there were four questions, and you answered three right, your grade is 75. At the end of the course, the instructor adds up all your grades and averages them for your final grade. Your GPA is calculated from all the final grades each semester. Letter grades, A, B, C, D, and F, are also used. These are given based on percentages, also. 70% is the lowest passing grade, while 100% is a perfect score, all the answers right on Aa test. The thirty percentage points from 70 to 100 are divided by four, which is the number of the letter grades A, B, C, and D. So letter grade A is assigned for all percentages between 100 and 92 or 93, and B is assigned to percentages between 92 and 85, and so on. 69% is not a passing grade; the letter grade is F. For Grade Point averages, Letter grades are replaced with numerals 4, 3, 2, 1, and 0. Calculations are made by multiplying all the credits earned by the grade numeral, and then the total is divided by the credits earned. GPA of 2.0 or 2.5 is considered within the reach of all students, and is therefore necessary to pass the course. Students in professional courses are required to maintain 3.0 to 3.5 GPA to remain in the program until it is completed. Use of "degree" is usually restricted to college diplomas. "Highschool, no degree" means that a student either failed to complete the full number of prescribed courses for a highschool diploma, and is no longer studying or attending classes. The same term is uses to indicate a person who is or is still studying and attending classes, but has not yet completed all the prescribed courses, because he is still young and in school.
2 :
You must have finished succesfully (passed) Primary and Secondary Schooling in any country, it is expected that you have studied for 12 years and passed the exam at the end. (your Govt's public exams). Then you can mark High School Degree as your education.

Columbia, by far.

Are you looking for rank or for the best education? If you're looking for the best educations look for the smaller schools-they will work you harder. Otherwise go to harvard or some place like that.
3 :
I'm only 14..but I am a striaght A student and an excellent basketball player. Havard is hands down the best Law School. I aspire to go to Warden for finance..but if your going for law..go to Harvard. Continue your ambitions..and you will be succesful
4 :
It depends on what you are looking for. I believe Yale is #1 this year, but it focuses more on academia than practice. Harvard at #2 is more attuned to practice. I go to Northwestern which is #12 but is #1 in attracting employers. Depends on what you want.

All educational degrees from any country have some sort of value. It depends on what university/college you want to go to and what you want to major in or become. Education in China is very rigorous and almost all prospective students coming for higher education in the U.S. can speak English. However, their high school graduation isn't acknowledged by the BOE, so they aren't considered high school graduates in and of the US. People are allowed to enroll in colleges based on their school performance, English competency, and placement test scores. Sometimes, colleges may ask you to take the GED (Graduation Equivalency Degree) and score high enough for them to accept you. Your nephew has to talk to the college he hopes to enroll in to see what he needs to do. Most students spend months preparing applications for colleges

Is it true in japan high school is optional

Is it true in japan high school is optional?
Someone told me that the dumb japanese people do go to high school cause its optional. If thats true then I can see why japan has high education rates cause only the smart want to go to high school and that saves alot of money. Look at all the money we waste of retarded and dumb people in usa high schools. I think dumb people should not be allowed to go to high school so money can be spent on only the smart.

If i fail my biology final, will i need to go to summer school or can i just retake the course next year

If i fail my biology final, will i need to go to summer school or can i just retake the course next year?
I'm in 8th grade, and i took bio this year, so i guess you could say i ws in advanced science. I was never good at science, but i needed to take it to get onto the private school i go to. I'm leaving next year, and am going to a public school. I'm going to be taking normal science next year, sense biology was to hard. they can't make me take advanced science if i don't want to sense there a public school. But my teacher sucked this year, and i honestly think i might fail my final. My teacher always says "If you fail this final, it's summer school USA !" meaning you'll have to go to summer school. But, all the 9th graders at my private school who aren't in advanced science take biology. So if i do fail, instead of going to summer school, could i just retake the course next year?

Why Christians without tool and boner are being harassed and persecuted in USA

Why Christians without tool and boner are being harassed and persecuted in USA?
http://www.ndcaws.org/harassment/laws.asp In Fiscal Year 2002, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) received 14,396 charges of sexual harassment. Almost 15% of those charges were files by males. In a survey of 9,000 clerical and professional women, 92% of the respondents had experienced overt physical harassment, sexual remarks and leering, with the majority regarding this behavior as a serious problem at work. (Kathleen McKinney, Sexual Coercion) Two out of three women surveyed in the military said they had been sexually harassed. (Women̢۪s Legal Defense Fund) In an AAUW survey of eight randomly selected high schools in North Dakota 83% of boys and 93% of girls reported experiencing sexual harassment. (Classrooms & Courtrooms: Facing Sexual Harassment in K-12 Schools) A national study of 222,653 students grade 6-12 found that 81% of girls and 76% of boys reported experiencing sexual harassment in school. So what the hell is your question?
2 :
Tool and what? Tool?
3 :
there was a brief mention of christians; not enough to merit a claim that christians are being persecuted
4 :
Sorry, that was way over my head.
5 :
The study you cited is ELEVEN YEARS OLD (September 8, 1996????????), and you expect to be taken remotely seriously??? Good grief; find something CURRENT to talk about. As to your question - I have no idea what "tool and *****" is supposed to mean.
6 :
Come off it! Christians are NOT targetted for either harassment or persecution in the USA. Do you really think that Jewish and Muslim and Hindu and Sikh and Buddhist women don't get sexually harassed? Do you imagine that abusers of power focus their perversions exclusively on Christian women? There has NOT been an increase in the number of sexual harassment cases . There has been an increase only in the number of REPORTED sexual harassment cases, and that is because the government and the law (and employers too) are stepping on harassers these days. People are therefore more comfortable about coming forward with complaints. You are using credible sources to fabricate non-sequitur evidence, and your stats are misleading—I think deliberately so. Two can play that game! Women are twice as likely to develop breast cancer as men are to develop prostate cancer. People with the most birthdays have the longest lives. By the way, I'm a Christian myself, and I was an elected union officer for over 25 years. I supported many women through sexuall harassment allegations, and I have a wife and a daughter.
7 :
You are giving statistics that have nothing to do with any faith based belief, at least the ones you have listed - what am I missing? Your question is? Are you asking if Christians are being persecuted? This reads 'sexual harassment'. [I did not visit the website]
8 :
The missing word is "b * ner" (insert an o)... I get the RSS feed and it was in the title. Still no clue what the heck it means, LOL!

At what age do children in the USA start going to school

At what age do children in the USA start going to school?

Preschool - 9 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Kindergarten. Those would be 5 year olds. Some go to preschool first, usually at the age of 4.
2 :
My son was 2 when he started preschool. My older kids started kindergarten at 5, however you dont have to put them in Kindergarten if you choose not to, but they do have to enroll in the 1st grade. If you start your child in kindergarten, you cant take them out. it also varies if the child is homeschooled
3 :
It depends on their age. My son won't be 5 until February, so he missed the "December 5" age 5 birthday to get into school this year..... so I guess to answer your question, they start kinder at 4 or 5 depending on when their birthday falls.
4 :
In my family, children start school around the age of 4 years old. However, there are 'Mother and Me' type classes that I took with my mom when I was around the age of 2 or 3. The 'Mother and Me' classes were really not much more than simple arts and crafts along with really small amounts of actual education.
5 :
it all depends on when they were born
6 :
Kids do not have to go to school until they are 7. I would recommend that they start kindergarten and 5 or 6. Kindergarten has really changed, and preschool is like kindergarten when I was little. They need to be a little older to be able to handle the level of sitting and work they have to do.
7 :
Children need to be five to start kindergarten, but the date they need to be five differs by state (and in some cases by school district). Here are cutoff dates. Alabama - September 1 Alaska - August 15 Arizona - September 1 Arkansas - September 15 California - December 2 Colorado - Local Option Connecticut - January 1 Delaware - August 31 Florida - September 1 Georgia - September 1 Hawaii - August 1 Idaho - September 1 Illinois - September 1 Indiana - July 1 Iowa - September 15 Kansas - August 31 Kentucky - October 1 Louisiana - September 30 Maine - October 15 Maryland - September 1 Massachusetts - Local Option Michigan - December 1 Minnesota - September 1 Mississippi - September 1 Missouri - August 1* Montana - September 10 Nebraska - October 15 Nevada - September 30 New Hampshire - Local Option New Jersey - Local Option New Mexico - September 1 New York - Local Option North Carolina - October 16 North Dakota - September 1 Ohio - September 30 ** Oklahoma - September 1 Oregon - September 1 Pennsylvania - Local Option Rhode Island - September 1 South Carolina - September 1 South Dakota - September 1 Tennessee - September 30 Texas - September 1 Utah - September 2 Vermont - January 1 Virginia - September 30 Washington - August 31 West Virginia - September 1 Wisconsin - September 1 Wyoming - September 15 District of Columbia - December 31 *Metropolitan school districts in Missouri may establish a cut-off date between August 1 and October 1. **Ohio districts may choose a cut-off date of September 30 or August 1.
8 :
You have a few different answers. Here's mine: it depends on what state your asking about? I live in WA. state and a child entering kindergarten must be 5 years of age before August 31. If he turns 5 on September 3 sorry he will have to wait until next year to start. However if you feel your child is ready for kindergarten you can go before the school board and ask and than it is up to them. WA. state is changing the kindergarten classes from 1/2 day to full day. The change has already taken place in lots of cities. How do you feel about that change going from 3 1/2 hours to over 6 hours a day? I think it is to long of a day for a 5 to 6 year olds. Hmm I hope I have helped you on your search for answers.
9 :
Kindergarten in California is 5 by December 2.

MUD is a good school, but a little expensive; same with Joe Blasco. There's Studio Makeup Academy that's cheaper and for a shorter amount of time and it's located on a film studio (Gower Studios) and I think there's one in Costa Mesa called Cosmix or something along those lines that's supposed to be good. They're all good choices, so I suggest going to individual schools for a tour and see which one suits you best. Good luck!

it's different for a lot of people but for me end- june 10, start aug 25
2 :
start in early june, end in late august
3 :
it's different times in different parts of the United States mind is usually from the last week of May to the beginning of August roughly 3 months, which went by too fast
4 :
mid june till early september
5 :
mostly the end of may to the middle of august but they are always around 3 months
6 :
Like, three months. I get out on June 2? 3? usually, and I go back on September 13, usually. But this year we have a long summer, so it's all good! :]
7 :
They start January and go till December. A short summer really.
8 :
I'm a exchange student here, and it just started yesterday. (Today was the second day.) I was told we get off in may 29.
9 :
roughly 11 weeks
10 :
its about 3 months. for me it was June 9th---August 26th
11 :
Where I live on the East Coast of the USA, my daughter's last day of school for the school year is ALWAYS the last Friday in June & the 1st day of school is ALWAYS 2 days after Labor Day, the U.S. holiday, which is the 1st Monday in September, which would be the Wednesday after the 1st Monday in September, which this year isn't until September 9th. So she ALWAYS gets 2 months off school for Summer vacation. And it's been that way since I was in school & I'm 36. The states that get 3 months off mostly don't get any days off during the school year. Only when I was in College did I get 3 months off - I ended at the end of May & didn't start until the end of August. But, to me, Summer is June through August & if I was a kid, I'd HATE to go back to school before Labor Day, or even the day after!

11 :
it varies from place to place, but most schools in the united states start around mid to late august.
12 :
It actually varies widely with classes starting anywhere from early August to mid-September - just depends on where you go to school.
13 :
it's different for every state in WI it's september 1st.
14 :
all school districts differ
15 :
Every school system is slightly different. In general, a new school year begins just before the start of fall, either at the end of August or beginning of September. This applies to the vast majority of public and private grade schools, as well as colleges and universities (although there are also some classes that are held over the summer).
16 :
they differ, but most start september 3rd
17 :
It depends. There are some districts who have school all year long. But usually in August.
18 :
it depends what state. but it's around mid-august or early september I think
19 :
Some schools start in the middle of August and others wait until right after labor day. It just depends on the school district.
20 :
anywhere from june 1st to october 31st or earlier or later depending on the school you attend.
21 :
it differs by what each individual town chooses to do
22 :
Each school district starts at a time of their choosing. Some start as early as Aug, some in September. Some are all year schools and do not take summer break.

many states and cities may start at different times. like i live in florida, and we go back at august 13...or ONE of those days. i'm not really sure what time we go back, but i DO know that many different cities and states start at different times.
33 :
Are you referring to high school, college, middle school or elementary? Traditional schools do start the day after labor day for elementary but do vary some and sometimes start the week before. Colleges start in late august and high schools start in Aug/Sept. If you want to know when your school starts check to see if they have a website or call the school. Hope this helps. :-)
34 :
Each state gets to make that decision. In Virginia it starts the day after Labor Day. They've tried to make it earlier but because Virginia relies so much on tourism, they have to have all the students who work at the beaches, Busch Gardens, etc. be available for that last big weekend of the season.
35 :
end of Aug and begining of september.... it matters where you live.
36 :
Depends on the school district.
37 :
Depends on the state. Up north it's usually after labor down. In the south it's usually the 1st or 2nd week of August.
38 :
generally early September, but some schools start in mid august, and some in late September.
39 :
depends on the town....last year and many years before that it was the end of August once on my birthday...yuck... but they are finally realizing again it is stupid to start before labor day...so it's Sept 5 this year
40 :
it depends on where you live. most of the southern schools start anywhere in august, but most of the northern schools go back the beginning of september. i go back on the 7th of september, but my best friend (who lives in north carolina) should be back in school before the month is over!!!
41 :
when the dead assed public school teachers get done with their three month paid vacation full time pay and benefits--part time work..as soon as they get back they'll start taking their paid vacation days off and sick days and start crying that they are underpaid and overworked and need smaller class sizes and new school and more $$$$ and more benefits. If their democratic buddes don't give it to them like they usually do, then they go on an illegal strike and hold our kids educations as hostage. I say do what Regan did to the air traffic controllers and FIRE ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS AND HIRE NEW NON UNION TEACHERS.

Once you pass the bar exam

No you have to pass a state bar exam!

No. After you graduate from law school, you apply for the state bar exam (this is a 2-3 day written examination consisting of, at least, a multiple-choice section and a number of essay questions on various legal topics). You must also submit a character application to the bar of your state (some states do this as a prerequisite for sitting the bar exam, some do this AFTER the bar exam). A committee will review this application to determine whether you have the necessary moral character to be a lawyer (among other things, they'll be looking at your criminal history (arrests, convictions, etc.), your credit history (are you responsible enough to be trusted with someone else's money?), where you've worked, whether or not you behaved in school (seriously!), where you lived in the past, and whether or not you suffer from any mental or physical illness that might adversely affect your ability to practice law. Assuming you pass both the bar exam and the character review, you will be admitted to the bar of your state (you may still have to pay a small fee and attend a swearing-in ceremony of some sort). And then you can be a lawyer. Assuming you can find a job. About five minutes after you are admitted to the bar, you will receive a lot of papers telling you of all your new obligations: in order to REMAIN a lawyer, many states require that you take skills and methods courses for new lawyers, or sign up for continuing legal education, or pay into funds for pro bono work or for client protection.

Nope.....gotta get a license.......pass the bar.........if you didn't know that you should stay in school........

hat are the best mortuary science schools in the USA?
Hello! My name is Austin, and I am thinking about persuing a career in mortuary science. I have given alot of thought to being a funeral director, and I think it may be for me. Does anyone know the best mortuary school in the USA? I have looked into the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, but I don't know much about it. I DO NOT want to go to the University of Minnesota. I REALLY don't like that school.

Do the teachers have to reapply for jobs in other schools or does the school board dispatch them to other other schools?

If a school closed down because it was old or another reason BUT they knew it was going to close down within the year.I would say they send the teachers to another school. But if the school fails an inspection or its not safe and must close down immediately the teachers will have to find jobs themselves. Thats just my opinion
2 :
When a school closes down, the district will usually try and place the teacher in another school. However, there may n ot always be jobs available. In that case, the teachers with seniority would get the jobs first.

Hi! Is there any schools in Temecula, California or anywhere in California offering a full scholarship for a junior high school coming from Philippines? Yeah of course, you can to go in schools anywhere in California, if u speak english. hum, not anywhere (because there are schools who take that the best students), but if you are a good student you can to go to the school a bit anywhere in California.
2 :
No I don't think you are going to find any. Public school is free in the US. A parent or legal guardian is going to have to sign you up for school. You would have to already have someone to live with. High schools in the US do not have housing. You can look into private boarding schools. but I don't think you would find one to give you a full scholarship You could look into being foreign exchange student at a US high school.

I found some info about getting this scholarship online in this scholarship database - colleges.mywebcommunity.org

Why is it that most school shootings happen in the USA?

Why is it that most school shootings happen in the USA?
I studied in american schools for a long time. One thing that I can say about them regarding this topic, is that there is too much segregation. Maybe this is one of the factors. What do you think? The access of guns is clearly a cause. But, I want more causes.
Primary & Secondary Education - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I don't think that the most school shootings happen in the U.S.A. per-say but it is that they are the most publicized, also the amount of guns that are relatively easily available to youth could also attribute to the amount of gun violence in the U.S.
2 :
Most shootings happens in so called gun free zones, where citizens (except for mads attracted by the "fish in the barrel" scenario) are not allowed to carry with them the tools to protect themselves fairly. Unfortunately, those crimes happens often also in the EU, probably because most of people involved in that kind of crime is seeking for maximum publicity and EU and USA media are OK for giving they the coverage they are looking for...
3 :
I think it has to do with some many parents working and being so busy making ends meat that we often depend on others to raise our children. There is just not enough time in the day to work full time, spend time with kids, really listening to them and being there for them . It seems the loneliest kids are the ones that turn on us. I really think that if more moms could stay home with kids that things would be better for our US families. I know that many people may not agree , but it is my opinion. It is also my wish for my children.
4 :
Could it be that guns are readly available in the US ?
5 :
Because you are allowed to buy guns and can go around shooting anyone you like. In other countries this is not allowed. In the UK it is illegal to own handguns. People can own shotguns, but they have to have licenses for them and keep them locked up and stuff. Mostly they are owned by people in the country. Hardly anybody in towns owns a gun, and we don't have many shooting shere. Of course, sometimes a nutter manages to get hold of one, but it isn't as easy to do here as it is in the USA. And I think the same goes for most countries.
6 :
As a British observer, i think the answer is obvious. Even though someone said that most were committed in gun free zones, America must end it's love of the gun !!!! I understand about in the past and colonising a new country that it was dangerous and people needed to be armed but that was eons ago. This is the 21st century and if you must change your constitution to make your country safer for everyone then do so. Until you change this then nothing can ever be really done because people just quote the right to bear arms !
7 :
The easy access to guns is the biggest cause. I know that some people will eventually cite 'taking god out of the schools' as a cause for school shootings, but if you actually look at the statistics, school violence has gone DOWN since the 80's - when we stopped forcing kids to pray in school.

hould home school and religious schools be banned in the USA

hould home school and religious schools be banned in the USA?
Before I am attacked for being a teacher, I teach at a private non-religious school.
Politics - 18 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
No and no it should not.
2 :
No. Ignorance is a protected class for Americans. I think. ... hmmm
3 :
No way. All that leaves is government run schools.
4 :
Definitely not, but public schools should have nothing to do with religion. Though I don't think there should be public schools at all; the government shouldn't decide what to teach us. Let the thumbs down come. It's sad that I get ridiculed for wanting complete educational freedom.
5 :
no and no
6 :
no, it's the family's choice at where they want to send their child.
7 :
No, why?
8 :
no and you should still be allowed to spew this idiocy on the internet, and I should be allowed to disagree with it.
9 :
Nope. I see no reason too. If people want to homeschool their children. That's their choice.
10 :
No, there are good and bad schools, good and bad home schooling, but it does not mean it needs to be banned. I hate the word ban, it denotes censorship and totalitarianism.
11 :
No private schools should not be closed down neither should religious or home school options. I believe that parents should have the option of sending their kids to the kind of environment they would rather them be in. It is not a disputable fact that most public schools suck, so why would you send your kid there unless you just can't afford to send them elsewhere? Home schoolers and religious private school students score higher on there SAT tests than other schools and they are taught a better work and moral ethic system. Why would we want to ban that? If you disagree with it send your kids somewhere else, this land of the free, we are entitled to make our own decisions as long as they aren't hindering someone else, and these other schools are ranking higher than the government schools so that can't be the issue. I'm not badgering you because I don't know where you stand, just expressing my thoughts. Private schools have the flexibility to create specialized programs for students. For example, private schools may use art or science in all classes, or take children on outdoor trips. They can create their own curriculum and assessment systems, although many choose to use standardized tests. Many parents are drawn to the alternative curriculums that private schools have to offer. Private school students generally perform higher than their public school counterparts on standardized achievement tests. As with earlier results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), private school students performed higher than public school students on the NAEP: 2000 tests. Their average scores were above those of public school students on the 4th-grade reading test and on the 4th-, 8th-, and 12th-grade science and mathematics proficiency tests. Private high schools typically have more demanding graduation requirements than do public high schools. Compared with public schools, private schools required more coursework (in 4-year high school programs) in 1999–2000 in social studies, mathematics, science, foreign language, and computer science. For example private schools required on average 3.1 years of mathematics, while public schools required 2.7 years. The figures for foreign language study also differed: 1.5 years at private schools but 0.5 years at public schools. In addition, about 40 percent of private schools required some form of community service for high school graduation, four times the rate for public schools (10 percent). Private school students are more likely than public school students to complete a bachelor’s or advanced degree by their mid-20s. Data from the National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988, "Fourth Follow-up" (NELS: 1988/2000) show that students who had attended private school in 8th grade were twice as likely as those who had attended public school to have completed a bachelor’s or higher degree by their mid-20s (52 versus 26 percent) and far less likely to not complete a post-secondary education. I think this says enough not to mention a hundred other reasons.
12 :
Do you have something against American children being given a quality education? Our public schools spend more money per child than any other public education system in the 1st world, with some of the worst results. I lay the blame for this directly at the feet of the teachers unions, who allow substandard "teachers" to remain in the classroom and block all attempts at competency testing for those same ignoramuses!
13 :
Almost too late now, our kids are in University, with one in both high-school and college courses for his senior year. They had prayer every morning of their schooling. Standardized tests show private schooled kids do better than pubic schooled kids and home-schooled kids do better than private schooled kids. Considering the fact, many homeschooled kids were taken out of public and private schools because they were failing. I would question why you would wish to eliminate either religious schools or home-schooling?
14 :
No of course not. I cannot be sure of home school quality, that would depend on who is teaching it. I do feel religious and private non religious schools tend to do a better job then public school. This is especially important for the pre-school and elementary grades as a strong foundation. The problem with public schools is that there is usually an over sized, non teaching bureaucratic board overseeing many schools sucking up too much of the money which could otherwise be spent for the schools and the students. Also, the tax payers money for schools is often tapped into by the politicans for other programs leaving inadequate funds for the schools. California Department of Education News Release March 14, 2008 State Schools Chief Jack O'Connell, Teachers, Support Staff, Administrators Announce More Than 20,000 Teachers and Support Staff Getting Layoff Notices Due to Budget Crisis SACRAMENTO — State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell joined teachers, school administrators, and school support staff to announce that an estimated 20,000 teachers, counselors, librarians, nurses, and support staff have been given potential layoff notices. March 15 is the annual deadline for districts to issue layoff notices for the coming school year. Districts are handing out layoff notices in response to the state budget crisis, the Governor's proposed plan to cut $4.8 billion from education funding, and his call to suspend Proposition 98, the voter-approved minimum funding guarantee.
15 :
Well, that would be appropriate for a Leftist bigot. MMM MMM MMM!
16 :
No. If anything public schools and giving teachers tenure should be outlawed.
17 :
No. While public schools was one of the fundamental principles behind the efforts of several of our founding fathers, so was freedom of choice. I know for a fact that I could not possibly teach my children everything they would need to know at high school age. I also believe as fact that letting a church teach my children science and history, would be intellectual abuse. However, if someone else wants to do that sort of thing to their own children, well who am I to tell them otherwise? Who is the law for that matter?
18 :
No, because that leaves only government-run public schools, and the government has far too much influence in our lives already.

Is there a minimum age in USA to get a High School Diploma or to be in senior year

Is there a minimum age in USA to get a High School Diploma or to be in senior year?

2 :
You need to have all the required credits in order to graduate. Pass all your classes and you should be fine :).
3 :
You said you are young but you did not say how old you are. However, there is no minimum age to obtain a high school diploma but if a person is quite young parental approval might be needed. Just to be sure the student can handle to work, the pressure of other students and so forth. I knew a kid who at fourteen was a college freshman. He however was very immature and did not know how to act around kids his age. He ended up going back to high school because he missed having a normal life. It is great to want to succeed. But, there are problems I have with getting a high school diploma when somebody is younger than 16. If the person does not go to college there are not many jobs they can do because the person still is a minor. I am a college senior and I plan on graduating in December 2009 and I don't want to rush life. Enjoy what you have now. I was an exchange student and I know what it is like. Going back to your country everyone wants to know what you did and there is a certain sense of pride involved. If you really want to graduate early then go for it. Nothing should stop you from your dreams.

8 years. Plus 4 years of under paid residency. (4 years of undergraduate to get your bachelors, then another 4 years actually in medical school, then another 4 years as a residency where you get alot of crap and only a little money) Pre med is usually a semester or a year of courses that get you ready for medical school but do NOT count toward your graduation requirement. As for good schools, I would check out the web rankings for the specific field you want to go into.
2 :
pre med can be a major, but i wouldnt recommend it. you have to take specific classes that are required but beyond that, you can major in anything. the classes usually are 1 year of chemistry and one year of organic chemistry each with a lab, 1 year of biology with lab, one year of physics, some math and some writing classes. if you are set on med school, you can apply to a 7 year bs/md where you get to skip one year of school.

Please do forgo those private overpriced for-profit tech schools such as 'art institute' and such. For a certificate program or associate degree, please consider the more affordable county vo-tech school or community college as long as the program is accredited within the industry. I am going to university in England for a BA (hons) in Creative Writing. It has three years instead of the usual four in America. Will it still qualify as a degree in America?

US and UK bachelors degrees are considered entirely equivalent. The reason why UK degrees take only 3 years is because you focus entirely on your major. In the US, you're required to have breadth as well as depth, and you have to take courses outside your major such as foreign language, math, etc. But in the end, the two degrees are considered equivalent, so don't stress. You're good.

Hi Chelsea, They should be treated as equivalent and you should not have any problems with finding a job in the US with a degree from the UK.

Yes, it will be accepted and respected in the USA. You will study the field and forgo Into to Art, Intro to Music and such crap!

If you are talking about school under the college level-Boarding schools in America are private. Meaning they have a tuition and not funded by the state. They can be quite costly. If you can pay the tuition price, most schools will let you in unless there has been a discipline problem in the past. Most schools, under college level, in America do not provide housing for their students.

I am not aware of any school with 100% acceptance rate. You can research schools here: www.boardingschoolreview.com, www.schools.com and www.petersons.com. If certain numbers, like acceptance rates, are important to you, you should verify the numbers with the schools that interest you. Sometimes these websites are not completely up to date. If you need financial aid, it is difficult to get as an international. There are many great schools. Think about what you can offer a school and what you want in a school other than being a boarding school in the US. There is a wealth of information and some misinformation here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/

Instead of looking for someone else's opinion of THE BEST school, maybe you should do some research of the top rated schools in America and see which one would suit you best. Schools don't come in 'one size fits all' every school has different programs and classes to offer, it depends on what you're looking for. Here are a couple different private school directories: http://educationseek.com/schools/Private_Schools/ http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/pss/privateschoolsearch/

There is no one best private school in the US. It really depends on which school is the right fit for you. There are hundreds of truly great private schools in the US. Look for a school that is a good match for you. Consider your academic ability, grades, test scores, religious affiliation, location, extra-curriculars, talents, etc. How much are your parents willing to pay? Good private schools in big cities can range from $10,000 to $30,000 annually. You can start your search here: http://www.privateschoolreview.com/ You should start with schools in your area, and ask your current school counselor for some suggestions. They know you and your strengths and weaknesses and which schools might be the best match. In the L.A. area, schools like Flintridge Prep and Harvard-Westlake are considered two of the very best. But they have very rigorous curricula and are really only a great fit for very academic students. For other students who aren't so academic, Crossroads or Brentwood would be the perfect match. Good luck!
